Opinion: Getting Caught Up on David News external link

Hello guys!  Sorry for the lack of updates these past few days.  I went out of town at the very last minute to see Celtic Thunder’s show in Portland, Maine and just got back yesterday.  The show was incredible!  But anyway, on to David stuff!

First, here’s the most important bit:  David has a new blog up on his site!

Hey guys! I just wanted to check in here in Singapore! This is my first time ever coming to Asia, and it’s been great so far! I love the weather haha. It was snowing when we left Utah, so coming to a nice and humid place feels so good. It’s really good on my voice, and I have hardly had to use chap stick. It took me a little while to adapt to the time zone here, because I had major jet lag haha. I’m getting better though. I’ve just been keeping really busy here doing a lot of interviews and stuff, but I had a little bit of time yesterday to go to the mall. I didn’t get to go to that many stores, but it was fun looking at the different styles and brands that they have here. There’s a lot of stuff here that’s really cool. I’ll be performing later today at Iluma, which is a new mall opening up here in Singapore. I’ll be signing autographs and performing a few songs, so it should be fun. After my time in Singapore I’ll be heading to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and I’m excited for that too! It’ll be fun to see the Petrona Twin Towers haha. But yeah, having a good time so far in Asia! Everyone’s been so friendly here too.

I also want to say thanks again to all of you who came to the shows on tour! I had sooooooo much fun! It was seriously one of the highlights of my life, just being able to go on my first solo tour. The last shows in Utah were great, and I was way happy to see a lot of my friends at the shows. Having the last show in Salt Lake was unbelievable haha. I couldn’t believe how many people came out to see the show. It was a nice way to end such a great time on tour. The opening acts for the Salt Lake show were also amazing. Benton Paul was the first act, and he’s a fellow Utahn who has some GREAT sounding stuff. He’s a really good guy too. Then we had Amie Miriello! And you probably all know that I love her stuff too lol. Thanks Benton, Amie, and also Lesley again for coming and helping out with the first tour! I had such an awesome time. And thank you again everyone who was able to come out and enjoy the show :). I can’t wait for the next tours that’ll be coming up, and I hope that more of you will be able to come out to those! Well I better get ready for the day haha. I’ll ttyl!

More from DAVID ARCHULETA:

P.S. Right now it’s Monday in the U.S., but it’s Tuesday here. Crazy, huh? heheh….

Song for the day: Paris - Benton Paul. This guy has some serious talent. He has a great style and sound to his stuff that I really like. Check it out! This song has some French in it, so it’s pretty cool.

And here are two articles that were printed in Singapore.  I’ll post little pieces of them to tease you into reading the whole thing, how’s that? :P

This one’s from The Electric New Paper:

While his posts to fans and video blogs on tour are usually perky, he has obviously learnt enough about the music industry in the year since Idol to be realistic about it.

He’s had first-hand experience of how dirty the business can be, thanks to gossip mongers who speculated during last year’s Idol that Archuleta’s father, Jeff, was a control freak.

Among the rumours spread by gossip sites like TMZ were that daddy Archuleta was choosing all the songs for him and wouldn’t let him have water until he perfected his songs.

More on David Archuleta:

No idea

Said Archuleta: ‘I didn’t even know about it until people started asking me about it during interviews.

‘I was just being excited about the show and singing for everyone, and then suddenly people were asking me questions about whether my dad was abusing me.’

And this one’s from MediaCorp TV.

David Archuleta. Two words that conjure collective sighs and screams from women (mostly) aged eight to 80. Just what is it that makes the 18-year-old runner-up from the seventh season of American Idol, so incredibly endearing to young and old? Besides those angelic vocal pipes, maybe it’s the way he breaks into song during the press interview. Or how he describes his rabid fan base as “fanatical, but in a good way” (See, not a mean bone in his body). Or that he parties with water and cookies.

What do you miss most about your home in Utah?

Definitely that’d be family, and the people there. There’s just no place like home, where I was raised and the people there are just so great. It’s just nice to be in that normal environment. like a lot of my friends at first didn’t know how to treat me, cos they’re like, they’re so nervous cos they thought I’d changed and become this famous person. And it’s like, um, I’m still the same person that you were hanging out with six months, a year ago. (Laughs)

But you are famous. You even won the Teen Choice Award for Most Fanatic Fans last year.

What’s neat is that for the most part, they’ve been really great [and] really supportive. And they still are really friendly and really considerate. That’s what I really appreciate. Even though they get really excited, they still make sure that they give me space. They’re like, ‘Oh, I hope you’re feeling better’ if I’m feeling sick. So they’ll give me like honey and little herbal tea packages, like ‘Here, this will help you.’

Jennifer sent in her drawing of David!

My name is Jennifer, I’m 18 and from San Antonio, Texas. I’m emailing this drawing I did of David Archuleta. I’d appreciate it if you could post it on the site for others to see. Thanks!!

I’d be thrilled to, Jennifer! :)  Click the picture to enlarge.

Deb also discovered a fantastic sales/spin chart that’s updated daily!
