Naruto Shippuuden Ep. 132

Happy Naruto Friday, everyone!

Cold blooded episode. I admit, I entered this week’s Naruto adventure with a bad attitude — I absolutely HATE watching an episode of Naruto the week after they use their amazing animation studio; going back to normal, the episodes always look especially horrible. I was proven wrong, as this week’s episode was — surprisingly – very good. They actually put in effort to make the normal animation look watchable. Awesome.

This week the battle between Pain and Jiraiya continued at feverish intensity. Slowly but surely, as Pain countered every one of the “Gallant Jiraiya’s” most powerful Sage Mode techniques, he and Ma & Pa toad began to figure out the sinister secrets behind Pain’s frightening abilities. Turns out, due to his Rin’negan, Pain has a shared field of vision between all of his bodies that gives him an unimpeded view of any battle field, and each body possesses a specific ability that helps the offensive/defensive strategy of the group.

After Jiraiya and the toads figure this out, the conjure up a strategy involving genjutsu to shut down the 3 bodies, once and for all. The plan actually does work — Sage Jiraiya catches all 3 bodies in the trap and subsequently impales each one of the trio. Little did they know, though, that Pain actually has six bodies, and the remaining 3 came to the aid of the fallen, resurrected them, and hit the reset button on the battle.

Just like when I read this fight in the manga about 2 years ago, I nearly cried (literally) when Jiraiya was blasted through a wall by the unknown Pain body, after he thought he secured victory. Jiraiya KNEW he won … so sad!!! And now he stands — left armless, as well — before the full Six Paths of Pain, ready to finish the battle like a true warrior.

Great episode — until next week!

The Six (jerk) Paths of Pain … wait till ya’ll meet Naruto, freaks

Favorite Moment: at 1:35, when Jiraiya kicks the living s**t out of the long-haired Pain body. EXTRA buck.

No Naruto Manga This Week

This is pretty much how I feel right now. One of the great joys of my life is waking up on Friday mornings and downloading the fresh Naruto manga. Well, apparently life doesn’t always work the way you want (hey…) because there’s no manga release this week — the creator’s taking something called a “break”.

Seriously, though, I wish the author, Masashi Kishimoto, a great vacation — God knows he needs it. Producing a weekly manga CANNOT be easy.

Naruto Friday! : Manga Ch. 472 & Shippuuden Ep. 135-136

Thumbnail The next episode, 136, was largely a flashback (yes) of the life of Uchiha Madara, and the sinister, murderous secrets behind the Sharingan, the Mangekyo Sharingan, and it’s ultimate evolution — the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan. After effectively shocking the Uchiha out of Sasuke, Itachi reveals that the real reason he’s lured Sasuke to this point is so that he can take his little brother’s eyes, and win the fight against blindness that the Mangekyo Sharingan brings about. Favorite Moment: The genjutsu battle between Itachi and Sasuke toward the end of 135 was extremely cool. Even though it was an illusion, it was good to see Itachi fighting with his hands for once, instead of, y’know … standing still.
